First game tips
Arrive ready. Leave proud. A short checklist - not a lecture. For kids, elders, and first-timers.
Before you leave home
- Bag size / weather - stadiums have bag rules; check the venue page on FanSion Stadiums.
- Ticket entry - phone brightness up; know which gate is printed on the ticket.
- Layers - night games cool off; roofs and open-air feel different.
- Cash vs card - most places take cards; a little cash never hurts for small vendors.
When you sit down
- Find the big screen - replays help when a play is a blur.
- Down & distance - the scorebug shows “1st & 10.” That alone unlocks half the game. (Practice it here.)
- Cheer when the home crowd cheers - you don’t need every rule to belong.
What you’re watching (simple)
- Offense tries to move toward the end zone in chunks of ~10 yards.
- Defense tries to stop that and get the ball back.
- Special teams = kicks - field goals, punts, kickoffs. Field position matters.
Comfort rules
- It’s OK to ask “what just happened?” - good friends and good strangers will answer.
- Bathroom / snack lines peak at quarter breaks - go a few minutes early if you can.
- Leave a little early only if you must; the last drive is often the story.
You don’t need to know everything. You need a seat, a sense of downs, and permission to enjoy the noise.
